Basketball Recap: Bullitt Central Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Bullitt Central faced off against Whitefield Academy on Monday. The Bullitt Central Cougars were beaten by the Whitefield Academy Wildcats 54-19. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 69th).

Whitefield Academy had a senior duo take command as Noel Smith went 9-for-12 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds and Gwynnie Franz went 6-for-15 en route to 16 points and six steals. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Riley Ring was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Bullitt Central dropped their record down to 5-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Whitefield Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bullitt Central will face off against Shelby County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitefield Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jeffersontown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
