Soccer Recap: Escambia Comes Up Short

Escambia was the 2-1 winner over West Florida when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Escambia Gators lost 6-0 to the West Florida Jaguars on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 68th).

Escambia has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8-1 record this season. As for West Florida, their win bumped their record up to 10-1-2.

Escambia and Pine Forest will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Forest will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Escambia surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Florida, they will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Pace at 7:15 p.m. The timing is sure in West Florida's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Pace has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
