Baseball Recap: Cypress Creek Bears vs. Freedom Patriots

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cypress Creek can now relate to. They fell just short of the Freedom Patriots by a score of 6-4 on Monday. Cypress Creek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Freedom apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played two weeks ago.

David Puello made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Rivera, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI.

Even though they lost, Cypress Creek didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only tossed four.

On Freedom's side, Gabriel Capote looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Francisco Pilier was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Blake Echols was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Cypress Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Freedom, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.

Cypress Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Freedom, they will take on Windermere at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Windermere will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Freedom surely won't give up without a fight.
