Basketball Recap: Royal Oak Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Royal Oak duked it out with Groves on Tuesday. The Royal Oak Ravens took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Groves Falcons. The Ravens were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 54-47.

Groves found their leader in sophomore Harlem Simpson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Simpson has scored at least a third of Groves' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Genevieve Meihn, who posted ten points and three steals.

Royal Oak's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Groves, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.

Looking ahead, Royal Oak will face off against Bloomfield Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Groves has already played their next contest (against Detroit Country Day), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
