Recap: St. Mary's vs. Riverside-Durham Pirates
It was a good run, but St. Mary's unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside-Durham. St. Mary's was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Riverside-Durham apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, St. Mary's still got an impressive performance from Mary Marshall Rankin, who scored ten points. The match was Rankin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Abby Sottini, who scored six points.
St. Mary's now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Riverside-Durham, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.
St. Mary's will head out on the road to face off against Wake Prep Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wake Prep Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Riverside-Durham, they will be playing at home against Hillside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Riverside-Durham likes a good challenge.
