Baseball Game Preview: Oakville Acorns vs. North Beach Hyaks

The Oakville Acorns will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the North Beach Hyaks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Tuesday, Oakville came up short against Ocosta and fell 9-6.

Giovanni Rodas put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Rodas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rodas wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dre Kluth, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Koner Burnett was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, North Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Raymond/South Bend, falling 19-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Hyaks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Oakville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for North Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
