Basketball Recap: Winside Takes a Loss

Winside played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Omaha Nation Chiefs, falling 55-33. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Chiefs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Winside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ellie Topp almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Topp. Hadleigh Schutt was another key player, putting up 13 points along with six boards and three steals.

Winside's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Omaha Nation, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Winside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-40 victory against Walthill on the 16th. As for Omaha Nation, they will head out on the road to square off against Marty Indian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Omaha Nation's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
