Baseball Game Preview: Excel Panthers vs. Monroe County Tigers

Excel has gone a perfect 10-0 against Monroe County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Excel will be strutting in after a victory while Monroe County will be coming in after a defeat.

Excel was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Red Level, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since February 27th.

Guy Burton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Trent Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayden Chandler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monroe County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against Williamson, falling 23-14.

Excel's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Monroe County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything went Excel's way against Monroe County when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Excel made off with a 20-1 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
