Basketball Preview: Hillcrest Christian Cougars vs. Prentiss Christian Saints
The Hillcrest Christian Cougars's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Prentiss Christian Saints at 7:45 p.m. on February 6th. Hillcrest Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 604 points over their last nine matches.
Hillcrest Christian stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Prairie View Academy 81-17 on the road. With Hillcrest Christian ahead 51-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Hillcrest Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Darius Barnes, who scored 16 points along with five steals, and Ryan Bradley, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Battle, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Prentiss Christian had to suffer through a rough 64-36 loss at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, Prentiss Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Lions are ranked 120th).
Hillcrest Christian has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Prentiss Christian, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
