Volleyball Recap: Andrew Jackson Comes Up Short

If Andrew Jackson was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Westside on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the Fernandina Beach Pirates on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 25-14.

Fernandina Beach got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Maggart out in front who had seven kills and five aces. Those five aces gave Maggart a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gemma Unz, who had seven aces.

Andrew Jackson now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Fernandina Beach, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Andrew Jackson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Paxon School For Advanced Studies on the 28th. As for Fernandina Beach, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Bishop Snyder on the 27th.
