Softball Game Preview: Gregory-Portland Wildcats vs. Corpus Christi Moody Trojans

Gregory-Portland has gone 9-1 against Corpus Christi Moody recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Gregory-Portland will be playing at home against Corpus Christi Moody at 7:00 p.m. Gregory-Portland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Gregory-Portland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over King on Saturday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Madison Mauricio made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mauricio was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gregory-Portland got a massive performance out of Emily Cameron, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Elizabeth Keith was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Gregory-Portland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .731. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Corpus Christi Moody fell victim to Flour Bluff and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 15-0. The Trojans just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Corpus Christi Moody's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Gregory-Portland, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

Gregory-Portland took their victory against Corpus Christi Moody in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 16-0. Does Gregory-Portland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Corpus Christi Moody turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
