Softball Recap: Atlee Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Atlee came out on top against Glen Allen on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Raiders walked away with an 11-7 win over the Jaguars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 back in April.

Sierra Kegley was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Leah Austin and Izzie Turnauer did most of the damage at the plate: Austin got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Turnauer went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Turnauer a new career-high. Shannon McKeever was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Atlee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Atlee is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Glen Allen, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Coming up, Atlee will venture away from home to face off against Matoaca at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3.2, the Warriors 0.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Glen Allen, they will be playing at home against Hanover at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
