Softball Recap: Newton-Conover Takes a Loss

After flying high against Statesville last Thursday, Newton-Conover came back down to earth. The Newton-Conover Red Devils fell 6-3 to the Lincolnton Wolves on Friday. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Emma Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Isis Picazo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Newton-Conover now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Lincolnton, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Newton-Conover wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-1 defeat against East Burke on the 11th. As for Lincolnton, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Shelby on the 12th.
