Basketball Game Preview: Curlew Cougars vs. Entiat Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Curlew Cougars face off against the Entiat Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday... Curlew is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Curlew is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Republic: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Curlew blew Republic out of the water with a 50-20 final score. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Curlew found their leader in sophomore Annika Baker, who went 7 of 17 en route to 17 points along with five boards and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Baker has scored at least a third of Curlew's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Theia Grady, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Entiat posted their biggest victory since January 30th on Tuesday. They blew past Cascade Christian Academy 39-14.

Curlew pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Entiat, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Curlew against Entiat in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 49-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Curlew since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
