It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Desert Edge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Verrado Vipers, sneaking past 72-69. Winning may never get old, but the Scorpions sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Desert Edge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jude Ramirez, who went 8-for-17 en route to 17 points and six steals. That's the most steals Ramirez has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Appenzeller, who shot 57% from the field on his way to 17 points.

Desert Edge's record is now 7-3. As for Verrado, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert Edge will be home for the holidays to greet Paradise Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Verrado, they will welcome Lake Havasu at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vipers are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
