Basketball Recap: Italy Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Italy can now relate to. They took a blow against the Martins Mill Mustangs on Friday, falling 73-45. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gladiators of the 67-41 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2017.

Martins Mill was led to victory by Ryder Marsh and Jak Kinder. Marsh dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Kinder posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and five boards. That's the most assists Kinder has posted since back in November of 2024. Lex Coker also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Italy's defeat dropped their record down to 21-14. As for Martins Mill, their victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 32-1.

Italy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martins Mill, they have already played their next contest, a 45-38 win against Gary on the 25th.
