Softball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short

Westfield lost against Dekaney back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mustangs came up short against the Wildcats, falling 24-8. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lauren Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Kylee Cockrell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Dekaney, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-7 record.

Looking ahead, Westfield will square off against Nimitz at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Dekaney, they will venture away from home to face off against Benjamin Davis at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
