Baseball Game Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. Toll Gate Titans

The Ponaganset Chieftains will challenge the Toll Gate Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ponaganset is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: St. Raphael Academy, who was ranked 24th at the time (Ponaganset was ranked 25th). The Chieftains fell just short of the Saints by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Toll Gate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to North Providence.

Toll Gate's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Ponaganset, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Ponaganset couldn't quite finish off Toll Gate in their previous meeting back in June of 2021 and fell 9-7. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
