On Tuesday Sonora's undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged out the Whittier Cardinals 4-2. The four-run effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Samantha Jaimes was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Ashlyn Pantages also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Sonora's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Whittier, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sonora will venture away from home to square off against Brea Olinda at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Whittier, they will head out on the road to challenge Downey at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Downey's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Whittier's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
