Baseball Recap: Cypress Creek Comes Up Short

Cypress Creek was the 3-1 winner over River Ridge when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Cypress Creek fell just short of River Ridge by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Coyotes have lost by just one run.

Cypress Creek got a good showing from Colton Burrmann, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Burrmann a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Everett Burgess was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Cypress Creek is 3-1 when Burgess posts three or more hits, but 4-6 otherwise. Kai Lachance was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Cypress Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress Creek and nudges their season record down to 7-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will host Lecanto at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Creek is facing Lecanto at the right time seeing as Lecanto is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for River Ridge, they will take on Land O' Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
