Preview: Frontier Academy Wolverines vs. Lyons Lions
The Frontier Academy Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lyons Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Frontier Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Frontier Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Union Colony Prep 60-43. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but Frontier Academy was the better team in the second half.
Frontier Academy found their leader in underclassman Emily Gesick, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gesick has scored at least 25% of Frontier Academy's points. Aaliyah Richardson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-29, which was the final score in Lyons' tilt against Windsor Charter Academy on Tuesday. Lyons was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.
The win got Frontier Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Lyons, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Frontier Academy took a serious blow against Lyons in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 71-39. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Frontier Academy was down 41-17.
