Softball Recap: Bald Eagle Area Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Bald Eagle Area had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They never let the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Sierra Albright, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Westmont Hilltop off the board. Albright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Habovick, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

Bald Eagle Area hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.

Bald Eagle Area's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Westmont Hilltop, they moved to 11-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bald Eagle Area will welcome Jersey Shore at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Westmont Hilltop, they will be playing at home against Bedford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
