Basketball Recap: Palisades Sets Scoring Season-High Against Butler

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palisades). They escaped with a win on Friday against the Butler Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 82-81.

Palisades' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayen Reeves led the charge by going 9 for 16 on his way to 23 points. Reeves' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Aurek Fenn was another key player, going 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Butler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Milligan, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Milligan a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah White, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Palisades' win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Butler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Palisades didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-45 defeat against Ashbrook on the 28th. As for Butler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-41 victory against Northwest Cabarrus on the 28th.
