Soccer Game Preview: Collegiate vs. Norfolk Academy

The Collegiate Cougars will face off against the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Collegiate comes in on 18 and Norfolk Academy on seven.

Collegiate is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand St. Anne's-Belfield a 4-0 shutout. Considering Collegiate have won 16 contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Lewis and Ava Babik scored all four of Collegiate's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 27 goals.

Meanwhile, Norfolk Academy faced The Covenant in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Eagles. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Norfolk Academy were the better team in the second half.

Collegiate's victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-0-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 71 goals over those 15 matchups. As for Norfolk Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3-1.

Collegiate came out on top in a nail-biter against Norfolk Academy in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
