Soccer Game Preview: Liberty vs. James Wood

The Liberty Eagles will head out to square off against the James Wood Colonels at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. James Wood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty, who comes in off a win.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Liberty duked it out with Skyline on Tuesday. The Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Hawks a 7-0 shutout. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Skyline are ranked 272nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, James Wood came up short against Manassas Park on Tuesday and fell 4-2.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four games. As for James Wood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-2.
