Baseball Recap: South Decatur Takes a Loss

After flying high against Morristown on Thursday, South Decatur came back down to earth. The Cougars came up short against the South Ripley Raiders on Friday, falling 23-6. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

South Decatur saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Corbin Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Johnson has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Garrett Huckleberry also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

South Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Ripley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, South Decatur will face off against Tri at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Ripley, they will take on Jac-Cen-Del at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
