Recap: Southside Panthers vs. Alexandria Valley Cubs
The Southside Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season. They really took it to Alexandria for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-20 victory at home. That 60-20 margin sets a new team best for Southside this season.
Southside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laylah Davis, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Davis scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Grace Anne rose, who scored 16 points.
Southside's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. As for Alexandria, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
Southside will be home for the holidays to greet Douglas at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Douglas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Southside is ranked 26th). As for Alexandria, they will head out on the road to face off against Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
