Basketball Game Preview: Woods Cross Wildcats vs. Viewmont Vikings

Woods Cross hasn't had much luck against Viewmont recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Woods Cross Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Viewmont Vikings at 5:15 p.m.

Woods Cross is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 57 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Clearfield on Wednesday. They received a blow as they fell 40-23 to the Falcons. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Viewmont really took it to Box Elder for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-28 win. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Viewmont's win came from a few key players Woods Cross will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kelsey Lindsey, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 11 points in addition to five steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Carr, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Viewmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Viewmont's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Woods Cross, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.

Woods Cross was able to grind out a solid win over Viewmont in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 45-35. Does Woods Cross have another victory up their sleeve, or will Viewmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
