Basketball Game Preview: Carbondale Terriers vs. Vienna Eagles

Carbondale hasn't had much luck against Vienna recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 10:30 a.m. without much rest having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Vienna is hoping to do what Hamilton County couldn't on Friday: put an end to Carbondale's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Everything went Carbondale's way against Hamilton County as Carbondale made off with a 59-38 win. Given the Terriers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Foxes are ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Vienna put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Carterville to the tune of 68-25.

Carbondale's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Vienna, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.

Carbondale came up short against Vienna in their previous matchup on December 9th, falling 55-50. Can Carbondale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
