Volleyball Recap: Vestavia Hills Starts Season with Win Against Bayside Academy + How To Watch

Vestavia Hills gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bayside Academy Admirals as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Rebels were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Admirals, so the Rebels were just returning the favor.

One reason for the win was Vestavia Hills' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-22, 25-18.

Vestavia Hills was led to victory by Lillie Hill and Emma Falkner. Hill had 16 digs and five assists, while Falkner had ten digs. That's the most digs Falkner has posted since back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Bayside Academy still got an impressive performance from Mary Katherine Whitehurst, who had 18 digs. Whitehurst has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Vestavia Hills wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Moody on the 22nd. As for Bayside Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Montgomery Academy on the 22nd.
