Softball Game Preview: Oak Park Eagles vs. Moorpark Musketeers

Oak Park is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Moorpark is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Musketeers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Oak Park came up short against Simi Valley and fell 5-1.

Julia Katz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Moorpark hadn't done well against Camarillo recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Musketeers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Scorpions, sneaking past 4-2.

Viviana Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Moorpark's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Jenkins, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Oak Park's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Moorpark, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Oak Park suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Moorpark when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
