Basketball Game Preview: Will Carleton Academy Cougars vs. Pittsford Wildcats

Will Carleton Academy hasn't had much luck against Pittsford recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars duke it out with the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Will Carleton Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Last Tuesday, everything went Will Carleton Academy's way against Jackson Preparatory & Early College as Will Carleton Academy made off with a 48-24 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Will Carleton Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Slade, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Slade a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Thomas Maier, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Will Carleton Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Pittsford came up short against Colon on Tuesday and fell 52-39.

Will Carleton Academy pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Pittsford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Will Carleton Academy took a serious blow against Pittsford when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 57-17. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Will Carleton Academy was down 32-11.
