Football Game Preview: Marlboro Central Dukes vs. New Paltz Huguenots

The Marlboro Central Dukes will head out to face off against the New Paltz Huguenots at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Marlboro Central's defense has only allowed 8.9 points per game this season, so New Paltz's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Marlboro Central's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 46-0 victory over Liberty. The game marked the Dukes' most dominant win of the season.

Marlboro Central can attribute much of their success to Devin Robertson, who rushed for 15 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 87 yards and one TD on only eight passes. The dominant performance also gave Robertson a new career-high in passer rating (139.1). Amar'e Lane was in the mix too, providing Marlboro Central with one score.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between New Paltz and Saugerties, and Saugerties kept the tradition alive. The Huguenots received a blow on Saturday as they fell 29-14 to the Sawyers.

New Paltz didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mikey Bauer, Nicolas Burda, and Michael Crocker picked up one apiece.

Marlboro Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.0 points on average over those games. As for New Paltz, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything went Marlboro Central's way against New Paltz when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Marlboro Central made off with a 34-14 victory. Will the Dukes repeat their success, or do the Huguenots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
