Preview: Sierra Vista Dons vs. Highland Bulldogs
The Sierra Vista Dons will face off against the Highland Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sierra Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sierra Vista had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-46 victory over the Gators.
Sierra Vista can attribute much of their success to David Orozco, who scored 11 points along with three steals, and Aaron Buna, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals. Buna hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Anson Wei, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Highland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past Canyon Springs 50-30.
Sierra Vista is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Highland, their victory bumped their record up to 13-14.
