Recap: Gulf Breeze Dolphins vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles
The Gulf Breeze Dolphins posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fleming Island and snuck past 56-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gulf Breeze.
Leading Gulf Breeze to victory were Michael Bailey and Hutson Rowe. Bailey scored 12 points along with two steals, while Rowe scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Rowe continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Jackson, who scored 11 points.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Crawford is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Trace Burney was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Gulf Breeze's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Fleming Island, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Gulf Breeze will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Riverside at 1:30 p.m. on January 15th. As for Fleming Island, they will take on Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Forest will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
