Basketball Game Preview: Marion County Eagles vs. Central Hawks

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Marion County Eagles challenge the Central Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Marion County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 67-29 win over Furlow Charter School. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Meanwhile, Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 63-55.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Marion County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9.

Marion County and Central were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but Marion County came up empty-handed after a 62-61 loss.
