Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Miller School of Albemarle). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinal Newman Cardinals a 16-0 shutout on Monday. Give the Mavericks' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Miller School of Albemarle let Noah Gray and Jackson Rosales run wild. Gray went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rosales went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Gray a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mandela Browman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Miller School of Albemarle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Miller School of Albemarle pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Miller School of Albemarle will take on Lugoff-Elgin in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Cardinal Newman, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lexington at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
