Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Blue Devils vs. Tekamah-Herman Tigers

The Wayne Blue Devils will face off against the Tekamah-Herman Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wayne has four straight wins, Tekamah-Herman has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Wayne's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Thurston-Cuming County. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Gavin Redden's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brodey Munter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Reinhardt, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Wayne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thurston-Cuming County only posted a batting average of .200.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Tekamah-Herman's offense. They lost 10-0 to Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Tekamah-Herman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Braymen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Tekamah-Herman's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Wayne took their win against Tekamah-Herman in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
