Basketball Game Preview: South Williamsport Mountaineers vs. Milton Black Panthers

The South Williamsport Mountaineers will head out on the road to take on the Milton Black Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Williamsport has three straight victories, Milton has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

South Williamsport will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Neumann Regional Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. South Williamsport blew past Neumann Regional Academy 74-53 on Saturday. The score was close at the half, but the Mountaineers pulled away in the second half with 45 points.

Meanwhile, Milton had to suffer through a 71-31 loss at the hands of Southern Columbia Area. While losing is never fun, the Black Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 636th, while the Tigers are ranked 244th).

Milton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for South Williamsport, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.

South Williamsport beat Milton 69-59 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Williamsport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
