Softball Game Preview: Bryant Hornets vs. Vilonia Eagles

The Bryant Hornets will challenge the Vilonia Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bryant is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Vilonia's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Bryant hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Hornets put the hurt on Jonesboro with a sharp 18-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Hornets have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Vilonia faced Benton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 15-0 to the Panthers. The Eagles have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Bryant pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Vilonia, their loss dropped their record down to 19-4.

Bryant skirted past Vilonia 6-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
