Vance Charter is a perfect 4-0 against Wake Prep Academy since May of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Vance Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Wake Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. Vance Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Vance Charter is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Falls Lake just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Firebirds, falling 9-3. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Katelin Guerrant made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Aubrey Puryear was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Guerrant wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Vance Charter lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Wake Prep Academy waltzed into their game two weeks ago with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Lions 13-5.
Charlize Kell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Kell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Annalise Masinick was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kyndall Miller, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Wake Prep Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Vance Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Vance Charter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wake Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Vance Charter's way against Wake Prep Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Vance Charter made off with an 11-0 victory. Will Vance Charter repeat their success, or does Wake Prep Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
