Baseball Recap: Bloom Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bloom, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Kankakee Kays on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blazing Trojan have posted since April 11th.

Christian Mendoza was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Bloom is undefeated when Mendoza posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Munoz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Bloom pushed their record up to 9-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kankakee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Bloom will have a chance to go back-to-back against Kankakee: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
