Basketball Game Preview: Grayson County Blue Devils vs. Auburn Eagles

Grayson County is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-53 heartbreaker at the hands of Marion.

Meanwhile, Auburn entered their tilt with Giles on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Spartans, posting a 72-36 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Spartans are ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Auburn is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Grayson County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Grayson County might still be hurting after the 61-40 defeat they got from Auburn in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Grayson County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
