Basketball Recap: Excel Christian Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Excel Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Candlelight Christian Academy Flames on Saturday. The matchup was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the Spartans couldn't quite close it out.

Candlelight Christian Academy was led to victory by Leishka Reyes and Skyler Taylor. Reyes dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Taylor dropped a double-double with 24 points and 13 boards.

Coming up, Excel Christian Academy will be playing at home against Jordan Christian Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Candlelight Christian Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against American Youth Academy at 5:00 p.m. on December 2.
