Basketball Recap: College Place Comes Up Short

After flying high against Connell last Tuesday, College Place came back down to earth. The College Place Hawks came up short against the Kiona-Benton Bears on Friday, falling 52-29. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 39-33.

Yadi Aquilar went supernova for Kiona-Benton, almost dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 12 boards, and nine steals. Those 12 rebounds gave Aquilar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Messner, who posted ten points in addition to six steals and five boards.

College Place dropped their record down to 7-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Kiona-Benton, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-12 record.

College Place wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 85-36 defeat against Zillah on the 1st. Kiona-Benton has also already played their next contest, a 49-38 win against Royal on the 4th.
