Softball Recap: Sunbright Tigers vs. Oneida Indians

Sunbright proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 13) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Oneida Indians 5-3. The win was nothing new for Sunbright as they're now sitting on three straight.

Braelyn Moss made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Moss has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Moss was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sunbright got a big performance out of Savannah Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Alexandra Buchannan was another key contributor, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and an RBI.

On Oneida's side, Shiloh Shoemaker was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Prayleigh Welch, who went 3-for-5 with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI.

Sunbright's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Oneida, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

As for Oneida, they will be playing at home against Eagleton College & Career Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
