Softball Recap: South View Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

South View fell victim to Scotland and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Scots. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

JORDYNN PARNELL spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

South View's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Scotland, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South View will face off against Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seventy-First has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something South View will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Scotland, they will square off against Hoke County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoke County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Scotland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
