Softball Recap: Bishop Watterson Takes a Loss

Bishop Watterson came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Cathedral Fighting Irish, falling 17-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Bishop Watterson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Emswiler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Emswiler has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Bishop Watterson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Cathedral, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Watterson will venture away from home to challenge Canal Winchester at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Cathedral, they will head out on the road to take on Danville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Irish are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
