Baseball Recap: Santa Maria Comes Up Short

Santa Maria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to the Santa Ynez Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-3 defeat last Tuesday.

Mateo Peinado was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Santa Maria's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Santa Ynez, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6.

Coincidentally, Santa Maria and Santa Ynez will both be playing Carpinteria the next time they take the field. The Saints will head out to face the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
