Soccer Game Preview: Rockbridge County vs. Staunton

Rockbridge County hasn't had much luck against Staunton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will head out to square off against the Storm at 7:00 p.m.

Rockbridge County is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to Rocktown. While losing is never fun, Rockbridge County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Rocktown are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Staunton kept a clean sheet against Wilson Memorial on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Green Hornets. Staunton haven't had any issues with Wilson Memorial recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Staunton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 49 goals over those six contests. As for Rockbridge County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Rockbridge County suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Staunton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
